How to find an appliance model and serial number

The full model matters more than brand and marketing name. A series can have variants with different parts, codes and manuals.

Safety rule: stop when there is smoke, sparking, a burning smell, electric-shock signs, an active leak, cracked hob glass or suspected gas. Disconnect only when it is safe to do so.

Where to look

  • On the door frame of a washer, dishwasher or oven.
  • Inside a refrigerator compartment, behind a drawer or on a side wall.
  • On the underside or rear of a small appliance after safe disconnection.
  • In the manufacturer app, purchase documents or manual.

What to record

  • Full model including slashes, dashes and suffix.
  • Product number, E-Nr, PNC, service number or similar identifier.
  • Serial number only for your private report; do not publish it.

How to photograph it

  • Do not move a heavy appliance solely to find the label.
  • Use good light and photograph straight on.
  • Check that digits are readable before finishing.
