How to read appliance error codes

An error code is a controller clue, not an automatic part diagnosis. Meaning depends on brand, model family and programme stage.

Safety rule: stop when there is smoke, sparking, a burning smell, electric-shock signs, an active leak, cracked hob glass or suspected gas. Disconnect only when it is safe to do so.

Record the exact code

  1. Distinguish letters, numbers and flashing indicators.
  2. Photograph the display before resetting.
  3. Read the full model, variant and product number.

Connect code with symptom

  1. Record cycle stage, water amount, temperature and sounds.
  2. Check whether the code follows a specific action.
  3. Do not replace a part merely because the internet associates it with the code.

Verify the source

  1. Use the specific model manual first.
  2. Then use official manufacturer support.
  3. A technician should measure internal components when the code concerns them.
