How to report an appliance fault

A technician can prepare better when the report includes more than “it does not work”: model, failure stage and accompanying symptoms matter.

Safety rule: stop when there is smoke, sparking, a burning smell, electric-shock signs, an active leak, cracked hob glass or suspected gas. Disconnect only when it is safe to do so.

  3. History of previous repairs and replaced parts.

Symptom description

  2. At which stage of a programme the issue appears.
  3. Whether it is constant, random or dependent on load or temperature.

  2. A short sound video only when the appliance can safely run.
